Justmaybe's Review

Justmaybe- ~*!*~ without a noise, without my pride/i reach out from the inside

First Impressions:

~*~Username and Title:The username is very cute. It sounds hopeful, even while it sounds kind of coy and flirty. I love it! The title...I'm not sure what it means, if it means anything. Are those song lyrics? I'm going to feel stupid if I find out they're from one of my favorite artists or poets and I didn't even know it...-3/5.

~*~Thoughts While The Page Was Loading:Oh, burgundy and black. This layout makes me think of dark, sexy trance. Whoa, what an image! This should be interesting indeed...-4/5.

The Starlit-Lily Factor:

~*~Does Your Soul Shine Through? Yes. You're so unpretentiously you that it's like a breath of fresh air, on the first day of spring. You're a strong young woman, sensitive and mature, and that comes across quite clearly in your writing. You're a beautiful writer, did you know that? Well, if you didn't, I'm probably going to end up harping about it quite a bit by the end of this review...so hopefully you'll get the hint.-37/35.

~*~Are You Observant Of Beauty? Yes! And delightfully so. You have a wonderful transcendentalist note to many of your entries, which I love seeing. You notice things, things that I myself notice and occasionally scream about because no one else seems to notice them. "We're no better than characters on a T.V. show, being watched by some sick mind up there controlling it all". I agree. Completely! But that's aside from the point. You notice things, you appreciate them--you get full marks. Go Becca! -35/35.

Layout:

I love this layout. Absolutely love it. It's dark, it's sexy, it's romantic. And it's exotic. It's beautifully organized, too. I love it, love it, love it. If I could change anything--and of course I have to find something to nitpick, because perfection seldom exists--I'd make the burgundy on the side the same shade of red. The color difference bothers me. But, everything is is gorgeous. I want this layout.-23/20.

Navigation:

The navigation is great. The hover effect is a bit disconcerting, however, because I can't see where I'm going, and honestly, I'm so absentminded that I can forget what I'm clicking on when it disappears like that. (No, Cielamara is not blonde.) I have to nitpick here, too--I'd love to see those link faces capitalized, and your "I Am" section punctuated and capitalized properly. It irritates me to see otherwise.-6/10.

Content:

~*~Your Content:I read almost all your entries, at one point or another--I was rather stop-and-start, because I was waiting for you to get back to me about your private entry password. My apologies, by the way--you did originally give me the password, and I completely missed it in the note. (Wow, I'm looking smarter and smarter, aren't I?) That being said...

You write with a certain elegance and maturity in your style. You have a lovely command of the language--your words are somewhere between the elegance of simplicity and the beauty of extravagance. You have a particular gift for describing things as you see them--it's like the literary version of a semi-complicated Celtic knotwork pattern. You express yourself without whining, without moaning or trying to solicit pity. You feel sorry for yourself at times, and you show it--you don't try to cover it up at all--but you do so in a blunt, non-theatrical manner that insinuates that you've got a "I'm here, I'm unhappy, I'm going to complain about it, I don't care who's listening" attitude. I love that about you, Becca. It's really great to read someone's diary who's not determined to make the entire world pity them.

Also, you don't daylog that much. When you do, it's typically accompanied by a pensive, pondering spiel which is quite wonderful to read. I love diarists who don't daylog. They make the reviewer's life absolutely wonderful--it's diarists like you who make it worth my while.

I feel a certain kinship with you in some regards. You mention semifrequently your adoration of and thirst for music, and inability to create it as beautifully as you want. And I have to smile reading that--not just because of my own musical memories, but because you apparently don't realize how musical your way of writing is. You write so beautifully! When you write things like, "Sometimes, I want to stay blank forever. Being painted a beautiful picture of sunshine and laughter, I love that. But the stormy nights painted on me...", I just marvel, because you say these things, and they're not affected or pretentious and you don't see how beautiful they are.

On an astrological note, I'd be very interested to see your birthchart, because you have all the sensitivity of a Scorpio, and all the apparent boldness and toughness of a Sagittarius. (I heart both, for the record.) You convey that so well in everything you write--it's really quite lovely to see.

I wish you could see you as I see you. I think you'd love yourself so much more.-67/70.

~*~Your Grammar and Spelling:If there were mistakes, I didn't catch them. And I'm tougher than the meanest English teacher.10/10.

Extras:
Enough to satisfy me, not so many it distracted me from your writing.-10/10.

Will I Return?

I think so.

Comments:

Goddess bless you, Becca. You're a very special young woman, bright and quite lovely.

Total:195/200.

Welcome to the Garden, Becca.

"Dreams are postcards from our subconscious, inner self to outer self, right brain trying to cross that moat to the left. Too often they come back unread: "return to sender, addressee unknown."
