Mixtape-'s Review January 03, 2004 @ 7:48 a.m. Mixtape- ~*!*~ ..songs for a mixtape.. ~*~Username and Title: Mix tape? I like mixed tapes. "Songs for a mixtape?" I wonder if this is a musical beast I'm dealing with. -4/5. ~*~Thoughts While The Page Was Loading: White...white. This will either be friendly to my eyes, or boring as salt-free Melba toast. -3/5. The Starlit-Lily Factor: ~*~Does Your Soul Shine Through? Oh, yes. While your entries are often frustratingly short, the man that is you does indeed shine through. You come across as baldly honest, and sincerely sweet. You don't lie about yourself, you're certain of yourself, and you don't seem ashamed of anything that you are. For that I'm giving you bonus points, because I admire that in a person. Unless, of course, we're talking about a rapist or mass murderer. -38/35. ~*~Are You Observant Of Beauty? You are, but it's limited to just a few subjects. Mainly your girlfriend, who seems absolutely wonderful. If I were in an advice-giving mode, which I usually am, I would tell you that you need to expand a little. There is more in life than your significant other, no matter how much you love each other, or how well-suited you are. However, your observations of her are deeply moving, even to a complete stranger like myself. You seem to have a love for her which is almost holy, and that, is utterly touching, especially to such a Watery-hearted female as myself. And here I thought that the race of the "sweet guys" was dying out...or becoming gay. -30/35. Layout: Your layout seemed very much a "guy" layout when I first saw it. White background, simple and oddly soothing black font, black on white links tidily arranged in boxes in the upper left corner. Then I saw the picture and my heart simply melted. What a beautiful picture--not feminine, per se, but simply romantic. I rather like that picture. Although the font in the picture is hard to read, and the colors seemed a bit bland after a while. -16/20. Navigation: The links are easy to find. Not too big, not too small--and nice and bold. Your extra stuff is wonderfully organized, which warms my heart. -8/10. Content: ~*~Your Content:Your content is quite reflective, which I like. You daylog to an extent, but mostly for reflective purposes so you can discuss your girlfriend. I think she is the marquee feature of just about every entry, but oddly enough, I really don't mind it. Your words are fairly simple, though you write with intelligence shining through and with personality in each entry. Some of your entries are vague; most, frustratingly short. When I read a diary, I want to click on the "Next" button and find something meaty awaiting me. However...despite the irritating shortness of your entries, almost every one gave me something to think about. Many, made me smile. You strike me as being a truly special person, Alex, one who, despite all you've seen, and despite a ribbon of cynicism which occasionally winds through your writing, is still brightly, determinedly optimistic. You speak often of love. That I find refreshing because you do it without malice or narrow-mindedness. You speak of yourself with love too, though with a certain modesty that again I find appealing, because you love yourself, but you don't worship at your own altar. Your diary got a lot of emotion out of me. You write with emotion; unlike many guys that I personally know, you're not afraid to let your diary soak up your tears. I actually cried when I read of your girlfriend's miscarriage. You have an unusual gift for truly drawing people--well, at least me--into your world. I like that. And Goddess love you, you're an Aquarius. -63/70. ~*~Your Grammar and Spelling: Hmm...I've seen better. You like to use "&" and you don't seem to quite know that the apostrophe has been invented. Your spelling isn't always great, either. However...you write fairly well. -6/10. Extras: Mmm-hmm...you have some poetry and pictures--your eyes are gorgeous. Truly gorgeous.--and a few other things. Enough to amuse me for some time.-10/10. Will I Return? Hmmm...I might, if I need to be reminded that love really can be as sweet as the romance novels say it is, and when I need to have my faith in the good of men restored. Comments: You're a sweet guy, Alex. You made me smile, and for that, I love you. Your girlfriend is very lucky, and you have my permission to tell her that a slightly eccentric girl from North Carolina said so.
