Smalleyes' Review

May 02, 2004 @ 2:10 a.m.

Smalleyes-- - ~*!*~ Don't misunderstand what you see in me.

First Impressions:

~*~Username and Title:I love your username. It's a subtle, lovely little play on your Korean heritage. It's neither angsty nor poppy, just...gracefully unique. I also love the title; I empathize with it. It's hard when people misunderstand you--and yet, it's so easy to do.-5/5.

~*~Thoughts While The Page Was Loading:This room is forever more going to smell like onions. And it's my fault for getting that stupid blooming onion. I will be smelling and tasting onions for the rest of my life. Ooooh...is that from I Am Sam?-5/5.

The Starlit-Lily Factor:

~*~Does Your Soul Shine Through? Yes, it does. Quietly, and gently, but definitely. You are an intelligent, sensitive, compassionate, romantic young lady. You are also a bit temperamental and emotional, but that goes with the territory. You are strong, fairly confident in yourself...and somehow, content, at this point in your life. You seem to recognize that you have a pretty good life, and you're ambitious. Kudos.-34/35.

~*~Are You Observant Of Beauty? I think so, in a way. You're not one to really look out at the world very much, but you seem to see the beauty in your life, and in people. You have a gentle sensitivity to things about you that is rather appealing. You seem rather tender-hearted and compassionate, and rather mature for your age. You're a bit obsessed with the opposite sex, but not annoyingly so--and you never talk about how "hot" someone is. Just about how romantic they are, or how smart or sweet. Thank you for that. -32/35.

Layout:

I absolutely loved I Am Sam, and this layout managed to capture my love as well. The white font on the deep red is really attractive, and easy on the eyes. Your organization is superb, and the image is beautiful. This layout seems like it was just tailor-made for you. I'm really quite partial to the combination of lyrics and image--melancholy, but warm and tender, and emotional. How much of a Cancer can you be with this layout?-18/20.

Navigation:

The navigation makes me so very happy. You capitalized properly, it's clear and precise, and organized properly. I'm so happy. -15/10.

Content:

~*~Your Content: I read...mostly everything. From here to there and from there to there. That being said...

You write...quite well. When most people write, they leave a certain signature about them so that two people could write about the same event, and you'd still be able to see their personalities. However, sometimes, certain people can project their personality in a very powerful manner, through the simplicity of their words. You're one of those people. You write simply, without many frills or without a huge amount of fuss, but your gentle nature, sarcastic wit and tenderness glows through like a lighthouse's beacon.

It's really the simplicity of your words that I personally find so appealing. You daylog a lot, but somehow, you manage to connote such emotion with your style of writing that even when you were rambling about various things. It's like, even when you're talking about everyday things, there's a good bit of pent up emotion fueling each and every entry. And then, when you write about things that are of deeply emotional nature, you do so with such grace and powerful feeling that I quite literally felt what you were feeling. I understand why you want to major in English in college. You have a powerful gift.

My only suggestion would be to not apologize for anything in your diary. Don't apologize for the length of entries, or for the crappiness, or the boredom you're certain your readers are experiencing. Just shut up and write. I think you'll evolve into such an amazing diarist if you do that--you're already so close. -67/70.

~*~Your Grammar and Spelling:Almost perfect. I saw nothing that put murder into my heart.-8/10.

Extras:
I quite enjoyed your extras, especially your list of things that bug you. Many of those things bug me, as well. It made me laugh.-10/10.

Will I Return?

I think I will, actually. I'd like to see your reaction to this review.

"Dreams are postcards from our subconscious, inner self to outer self, right brain trying to cross that moat to the left. Too often they come back unread: "return to sender, addressee unknown."
